Rhys Eyton, who was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1935, graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a bachelor’s degree in commerce.
In 1963, he started working as an accountant with Thorn Riddell & Co. However, he soon realized that he wanted to “do something more demanding,” so he enrolled in evening school to become a certified accountant. After that, he was successful in landing a job with London Life Insurance, and in 1967, he began working for Pacific Western Airlines.
He was a vital part of the various carriers’ merger that eventually resulted in the creation of Canadian Airlines.
