South African rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, professionally known as AKA, has gained significant recognition in the music industry over the years. Hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, and born on January 28th, 1988, Forbes released “Victory Lap” off his debut studio album Altar Ego in 2010 and afterward continued to wow audiences with his subsequent albums Levels (2014), Touch My Blood (2018) and Bhovamania (2020).
Alongside music success, Forbes made an appearance as a special guest at WWE Live events in Johannesburg & Cape Town in April 2018 and was even the roastee for a Comedy Central special in 2019. Through his hard work and dedication to his craft, AKA is undoubtedly one of South Africa’s most successful rappers ever.

On February 10th, 2023, tragedy struck when Kiernan Jarryd Forbes was fatally shot at Florida Road’s bustling nightspot in Durban. According to the report from an onlooker, the violence began around 10 pm SAST with a single gunshot during which Forbes was hit while waiting on the pavement outside. The event caused massive shock and outrage among locals as no one felt safe within their own community. As such, local law enforcement has increased its efforts to investigate the crime and find those involved in order to restore some peace of mind to the citizens of Durban.
