Who was Joey Manson?

Joey Manson was a firefighter and the owner of Centric Health and Safety Training Services from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He was popular among his colleagues and friendly personality to all. He studied at the Southern Alberta institute of technology, he was honored and awarded for assistance to an officer in distress on July 4, 2014.

He was a licensed First Aid Instructor, BLS Instructor, and Primary Care Paramedic

Joey Mason passed away on 16th Jan 2023 as announced by Sylvan Lake Fire Department. The Sylvan Lake Mayor, Megan Hanson has shared a post mourning the loss and mentioned that

the flag of municipal facilities will be lowered to half-mast in Manson’s memory.

The real cause of Joey Mason’s death is not disclosed. Although, it is likely he died serving his duties as a firefighter, a known of him Ashley Bawtinhimer has mentioned on a post about taking care of conditions and safety of workers when EMS takes place. She also mentioned that the system for patients and practitioners is a mess.

Sylvan Lake Fire department has posted on Facebook “It is with a heavy heart we announce the loss of Firefighter Joey Manson, who passed away last night. Joey touched many lives with his infectious smile, personality, and service to this community. Our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragic loss.”

One of his friend Kyle Bouyers shared a heart-wrenching post on Facebook

“I’m mad at you. I’m sad for you. My heart breaks for you! But, I love you bro! Always will. Until I get to see you again! I hope you found your peace! to my colleagues who knew him, and those who didn’t, our industry is in pain! Lean on each other. Rest easy brother, we’ve got it from here!! (A line I’m really getting tired of saying!!!)”

His dedication to saving lives resonates in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him, especially those from his beloved hometown of Sylvan Lake. Our thoughts are with his family during this time and we hope they find peace knowing how highly Joey was regarded by those he served so bravely at fires across Alberta and beyond.
